Georgetown Box Score | New Mexico Box Score

Wright State split a pair of games Friday at the UNM Classic in Albuquerque, New Mexico, defeating Georgetown 6-1 before falling 5-4 to host New Mexico.

The Raiders jumped to a quick lead against the Hoyas, scoring four runs in the first. After Jamie Perkins started the inning with a double to right center, moved up to third on an illegal pitch and Mollie Berry walked and stole second, both came in on a single to center off the bat of Allison Cox. Jherica Williams then followed with a two-run home run to left center.

Williams knocked in another run in the fifth as her triple plated Kristen Bradshaw, who reached on a one-out single. The final WSU came in the seventh as Perkins had her second double of the game and after going to third on a passed ball, scored on a Malerie Klingler ground out.

Sharon Palma (3-4) picked up the win as she threw five shutout innings, striking out five. Offensively, Perkins finished with three hits and two runs scored while Williams also had three hits and Cox two.

Wright State fell behind 3-0 against New Mexico as the Lobos scored one in the first and two more in the fourth, but the Raiders cut the deficit to 3-2 in the fifth as Justine Shilt scored on an error and Louie Haney singled in Michelle Logan.

New Mexico answered with a run in its half of the fifth, only to see WSU tie the game at 4-4 in the sixth as Cox led off with a hit and Williams followed with a two-run home run to center, her third of the season.

The Lobos (10-5), however, strung together three straight hits to score what turned out to be the winning run in the bottom of the sixth.

Williams and Perkins both had two hits in the game.

The Raiders wrap up tournament play Saturday against the same two teams, taking on Georgetown at 3:00 Eastern and New Mexico at 8:00 Dayton time.
