Rooma Honored Garners NSCAA All-Region Honors

Junior Jess Rooma Garnered All-Great Lakes Region Second Team from the NSCAA in 2007

Dec. 17, 2007

KANSAS CITY, KS - For the third straight season, Wright State women's soccer player Jess Rooma was honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America as a member of their All-Great Lakes Region Team. Rooma anchored the midfield for WSU this season, helping them to the Horizon League Semifinals, and guided the Raiders to a school record for wins in a season.

Rooma was a big contributor in the midfield this season for the Raiders as she played all over the field on game days. The junior selected as a First Team All-Horizon League Performer for the third straight season as she tallied six goals and 14 points.

This is the third straight season that Room was honored by the NSCAA, garnering third team honors as a freshman and sophomore. This season Rooma becomes the first Raider player to be named Second Team All-Great Lakes Region, as she is the only player to ever be named to the NSCAA All-Region team multiple times. Heading into her senior season, Rooma will look to become the fifth player in Horizon League history to be named First Team All-League during all four seasons.

This season, Rooma tallied a career-high six goals and accumulated a career-high 14 points during the 2007 season. During 2007, Rooma recorded two multi-goal games and recorded four match winning goals. The junior scored both goals in a 2-1 double overtime victory at Bowling Green and later added a pair of goals in the Horizon League Tournament opener for WSU. She tallied the game winning goal at Western Michigan and Youngstown State, while assisting on the game winning goal at Butler.

In each of her first three seasons, WSU has posted ten or more wins in each of them. As a rookie the Raiders posted 11 wins, last season WSU tied the school record with 12 wins during the campaign and during the 2007 season, WSU set the school record for single season wins with 13 victories.
