Freshman Goalkeeper Meghan Hackerson Recorded Eight Saves Against Loyola

DAYTON, OH - The Wright State women's soccer team dropped their regular season finale on Sunday afternoon to Loyola at Alumni Field. The Raiders dropped a 2-0 decision as Loyola connected on a pair of penalty kicks in the second half to take the tilt.

The two teams played the first half scoreless, with Loyola holding a seven-to-three edge in shots, and freshman keeper Meghan Hackerson made five saves.

In the second half, the Ramblers pressured the Raiders defenders and at the 58:51 mark were awarded a penalty kick after a WSU foul in the penalty box. Cynthia Morote-Ariza connected on the kick and gave LU a 1-0 lead.

Then in the 76th minute the same chain of events led to the second goal of the match for the Rambles, again with Morote-Ariza connecting on the PK.

The Raiders were out-shot in the match14-12, Loyola took six corner kicks to four for WSU and Hackerson made eight saves in the match.

The Raiders ended the regular season with a record of 12-5-1 overall and a finale Horizon League mark 5-2-1. The Raiders will host Detroit in a Quarterfinal match on November 3 at a time to be determined early in the week.
