Mason Named Horizon League Player of the Week

Senior Keeper Posted His Third and Fourth Shutouts of the Season Last Week

Oct. 30, 2007

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - After posting a pair of shutouts over Indiana opponents last week, senior goalkeeper Tebias Mason was honored as the Horizon League Player of the Week. The senior posted eight saves and held IPFW and Valparaiso without a goal for 199:38.

Mason started the week on Thursday at IPFW with a shutout in a 1-0 Raider victory. The California native posted five saves in the match at IPFW and faced 12 shots from the Mastodon attack.

Then on Sunday, Mason blanked Horizon League newcomer Valparaiso in a double overtime triumph. WSU played with the man advantage for 50-minutes and Mason held the Crusaders attack at bay, giving WSU the opportunity to net the golden goal with 22 seconds left. The senior made three saves and faced only eight shots in the match to post his fourth shutout of 2007.

His four shutouts are a career high for a season and rank fifth in the Horizon League. The senior has made 76 saves this season, ranking third in the league, and boasts a goals against average of 1.39.

The Raiders will look to extend their winning streak to five matches on Thursday, November 1 when they travel to Butler. WSU will tangle with the Bulldogs at 4:00 in their final Horizon League match of the season.
