Cross Country Competes at Horizon League Championship



Alyssa Glenn Led the Way for the Women's Team with a 26th Place Finish

VALPARAISO, IN - The Wright State men's and women's cross county teams competed at the Horizon League Championships at Sunset Hills Farm Park in Valparaiso, IN. The men's squad posted a sixth place finish in the nine team field, while the women's squad placed eighth of ten teams.

On the men's side, freshman Isaiah Kessio paced the squad with a ninth place finish as he covered the 8K course in a time of 26:33. Evan Firestone (16th, 26:52), Jake Bradosky (24th, 27:20), Carlos Zamora (32nd, 27:30) and Kyle Fetters (42nd, 27:53) rounded out the scoring for WSU.

The men's team placed sixth with a team score of 123 points as a pair of freshman led the charge for the Green and Gold. Butler won the men's event with a team score of 15, followed by Loyola (100), Youngstown State (101), Detroit (111) and Valparaiso (112). The Raiders sat in sixth, finishing in front of UIC (127), Milwaukee (182) and Green Bay (242).

The women's team was paced by freshman Alyssa Glenn and Kelsi Nutter who each placed in the top-30. Glenn posted a time of 20:16 on the 5K course, placing 26th overall. Nutter placed 29th out of 93 competitors in a time of 20:22.

Wraping up the scoring on the women's side were Marie Pitsenbarger (40th, 20:45), Natalie Hopwood (55th, 21:04) and Marissa Bozue (71st, 21:47).

On the team side of things, Butler (33 points) took the team crown and were followed by Milwaukee (60), Loyola (62), Valparaiso (118) and UIC (145). Finishing in sixth was Detroit (196), followed by Green Bay (198) and then WSU (210). Cleveland State (225) and Youngstown State (233) rounded out the team scoring.

The next action for the Raiders will be at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Saturday, November 10th.
