The Wright State swimming and diving teams concluded competition at the Horizon League Championships in Akron Saturday, with the men winning their second straight title and sixth in eight years and the women placing second.
The Raiders had seven first-place finishes and set four new Horizon League records overall on the final day. Krystyna Wieczerzak set a new mark in the 200 back (1:59.98) while Jessica Weidert did the same in the 200 breast (2:18.63). Warren Thompson established a new record in the 200 fly (1:47.93) as did the women's 400 free relay team of Kelsey Cooper, Vicky Tafur, Kassie Schmidt and Mabel Fernandez (3:27.03).
Other first-place finishes for WSU were Scott Lang in the 1650 free (15:48.30), Aaron Eckstein in the 200 back (1:48.72) and the men's 400 free relay team of Micah Belew, T.J. Collins, Zach Fisher and LeRoux Pelser.
Four from Wright State received postseason honors as Wieczerzak was named the Women's Newcomer of the Year, Weidert the Women's Swimmer of the Meet and Athlete of the Year, Nathan Demchuk the Co-Men's Swimmer of the Meet and Co-Men's Athlete of the Year and Sion Brinn as the Men's Swimming Coach of the Year.
