Position:
Assistant Athletics Director/SID

Experience:
16th Year

Alma Mater:
Maryville, 1984

After more than 15 years at Wright State and almost 25 years overall in the field of intercollegiate athletics, Bob Noss looks forward to the next 25 years of excitement.

Coming to WSU in the spring of 1992, he jumped right into the fun, hosting the first of many league championships as the now-defunct North Star Conference held their softball tournament at Wright State. Since that first month, the St. Louis native has had a hand in more than 30 conference tournaments. He has also witnessed more than 400 men's basketball games at home and on the road--that's almost half the number played since the inception of basketball at Wright State in 1970.

Noss leads a comprehensive communications office that includes three full time employees and many student workers that cover 16 varsity sports. This office is charged with everything from game management to press releases and radio/TV to website maintenance. Always trying new things, Wright State has ventured into video streaming events like no other school in the nation making events available via the internet to the entire world free of charge.

A few of his other responsibilities include special banquet and luncheons, sports walks of fame and the department's Hall of Fame. Noss also serves on several campus, league and national committees and is currently chair of the Ethics Committee for the College Sports Information Directors' of America (CoSIDA). He also has been the administrator for several sports, served on many search committees and has worked closely to write and administer the department's strategic plan initiatives.

Before coming to Wright State, Noss was the sports information director at Saint Louis University for four years. While there, the Billikens posted their best four-year record for men's basketball and advanced to the finals of the NIT twice. He can also boast assistant SID jobs at the University of Central Missouri and Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.

A graduate of Maryville University in St. Louis in 1984, Noss received his master's degree from Wright State in 2003 and currently is an adjunct instructor for the HPR Department at WSU. He and his wife, Janet, have two sons.
